5th Series Test Description - Land/Water Quad

5th Series Test Description
58 dog/handler teams will start the 5th Series

Land/Water Quad
Series 5 is located at the Patopea property called Duck Central. This test is a Land and Water Quad with 2 Flyers and 2 Retired Birds. There is a mixed bag of birds being used. The terrain is mostly flat - the grass tall and our visibility of the test from our vantage point is very limited.

The mat faces South and is on a mound. There are 2 parallel ponds up front, the dogs will go through both ponds for every send and return. (This will help keep them cool in this heat.)

Bird # 1 (R) is a Hen Duck and the gun station is located to the handlers far Right. The gunners will shoot and then throw the hen from left to right, then retire behind a well brushed blind. The bird lands approximately 245 yards from the line. The bird may land in an indention or swale. We will refer to this bird as R for Right.

Bird # 2 (RF) is a Drake Flyer, the gun station is located just left of Bird #1. These gunners will throw and then shoot the Drake Flyer to the Left. The bird will land approximately 205 yards from the line. We will refer to this bird as RF for Right Flyer.

Bird # 3 (L) is a Hen Pheasant, the gun station is located to the handlers left side. The gunners will throw and then shoot the Hen Pheasant angled back from Left to Right. The gunners will then retire. This bird is landing approximately 145 yards from the line. We will refer to this bird as L for Left.

Bird # 4 (LF) is a Hen Pheasant Flyer. The gun station is located just Right of Bird #3. The gunners come out and throw and then shoot the Pheasant from Left to Right landing approximately 170 yards from the line. We will refer to this bird as LF for Left Flyer.

This test will take approximately 13-14 minutes per dog to complete.

Dog #14 will Start this Series

Good Morning - Day 4

Good Morning Everyone and Welcome to the 4th day of the 2026 National Amateur Retriever Championship!

This morning we are gearing up for the 5th series Land/Water Quad! Test dogs are running now and then we will be set to kick off this test with our 1st Running Dog #14.

The weather this morning is once again starting us out with very little relief over night from the very warm conditions here - It was nearly 60 degrees at 6 am, with expected highs in the upper 80s this afternoon, with clear and sunny skies. There is a little breeze today, but it doesn't offer much relief. Precautions for the dogs safety is still a priority to make sure they do not over heat. As usual, we will keep you posted on developing conditions as the day goes on ... so stay tuned!

Note: You can view all the dog profiles entered in this event, brought to you by Retriever Results!
