4th Series – Land Blind

60 Dogs Started this Series

Test Dogs kicked off the 4th series on Monday afternoon at 1:05 pm, beginning with "Gauge," handled by Julie Cole and then "Valley," handled by Joel Bodenman. There was a slight change made to the test and a 3rd Test dog also ran to show the changes.

The first running dog of this series was #86 FC-AFC WIGHT’S BEHIND THE EIGHT BALL, “Molly,” with handler Tracy Wight. They came to the line at 1:22 pm on Monday afternoon.

The weather at the start of this series was nearing 90 degrees with mostly sunny skies and little to no breeze. Temps were in the mid 90s when the test completed.

4th Series Test Description
60 dog/handler teams will start the 4th Series this afternoon

Land Blind
Test 4 is a land blind running from the same mound as we did for Series 3. The mat will be moved. This blind will be divided into 3 pieces to report. They will be as follows:

1 (Mat - Road) the dog will go from the mat down into the channel, swim the channel, and then go up the hill and cross the road.

2 (Road - Crate) the dog must carry the line from the road out and past where the flyer crates were located in the previous series

3 (Crate - Blind) once past the old crate area, the dog's line will continue along the base of the levee - out to a marker that is 200 yards from the mat. (No Bird at the Blind)

This test is taking approximately 3-4 minutes per dog

3rd Series – Water Triple

71 Dogs Started this Series

Test Dogs started out this series on Sunday morning at 6:41 am, beginning with "Valley," handled by Joel Bodenman and then "Gauge," handled by Julie Cole. Monday morning there was a single test dog ran, "Valley," and then the test resumed.

The first running dog of this series was #66 FC-AFC BOURGEOIS’ OUISIE, NOW I’M GETTING MY TURN AT BAT, “George,” with handler Thierry Mahon. They came to the line at 7:20 am on Sunday morning.

The weather at the start of this series was 59 degrees with sunny skies and little to no breeze. Temps heated up into the 90s on both days with similar conditions. A heat advisory was in effect and extra precautions were take to keep the dogs cool. Monday morning when we finished up the series the weather was much the same, quite warm, in the 70s and hazy conditions.

M - Went out on a line left of the road - swooped back around on the land and came in behind the gunners to get his bird

Mookie and Jory came to the line at 11:07 am and had another No-Bird, they will be back for another rerun at the end

Came to the line at 10:59 am

F - Great mark!

RR - Out and down the channel right of the bridge to the pond - across the point and out towards the bird - back and forth until he got it

M - Down the channel - out of the water and he ran the left side - into the pond and swam to the bird and got it

Juice and Thomas came to the line at 10:51 am and had a No-Bird, they will be back for a Rerun at the end

Came to the line at 10:40 am

F - Right to his flyer!

RR - Through the channels and into the big pond - over the island and straight to the bird. Great mark.

M - Beautiful line through the channel - out and over the left peninsula - back into the water and straight out to get his bird for a nice job!

F - Nice Flyer! Got it!

M - Went out right of the channel - crossed and went left of the wood bridge - out to the big pond - over the point and turned left and headed to the far end and he got it!

RR - Took almost the same line out as the Middle mark - across the island to the fall area and located his bird

 Stiff breeze is now coming through at 16 mph. It is hazy and 77 degrees, but it feels like HOT!! (temps are consistently moving up towards the 90s where they will be this afternoon 😓)

HANDLE RERUN 72. FC-AFC HYFLYER’S OUTLAW EXPRESS, “Billy,” BLF, Jory Liddiard

Came to the line at 10:11 am

F - Made a couple of loops and she got it!

RR - Out through the channel - out of sight - hunted deep and towards the trees - worked her way back in to the bird and got it

M - Into the channel and then the far pond - got hung up on the peninsula and was handled to this bird

60. FC-AFC IZZY GITTIN’ BIZZY, “Izzy,” BLF, Jim Horneck

Came to the line at 10:02 am

F - Straight to it!

RR - Line out to the right - went deep and then came back around to get her bird

M - Out through the channels - crossed the road and entered the big pond - swam to the end and got out to find her bird and she got it. Nice job

F - Straight to the fall area and her bird!

RR - Took the right side of the channel and then the right field to the fence - behind the blind to the fall area and quickly got her bird

M - Into the channel - right back up - crossed the road - ran the base of the hill to the end - circled behind the guns to the end and got the bird

58. FC-AFC CABOTIME, “Cabo,” YLM, Joe Harris

Came to the line ...

F - Smack!

RR - Ran the field to the right - turned before the fence and went left down the levee to the bird

M - Out - close to the shore on the left - right of the guns - turned left and then back right and he located his bird

56. AFC BAYOU-STAR BOOGIE WOOGIE, “Boogie,” BLF, Suzan Caire

Came to the line at 9:33 am

F - She got her bird in a very short order!

RR - Out through the channels - into the big pond - swam down the peninsula and got it!

M - Headed out to the area on a line to the left side of the road - came back around behind the gunners - hunted deep and down into the culvert - came back in and hunted it up and got her bird

Came to the line at 9:26 am

F - Straight to it!

RR - Took a line out to the right and he got it

M - Through the channel - across the road and into the pond - swam down and got out of the water and he had his bird! Nice job

F - Across the road - into the bowl -  up the far side and to her bird

RR - Out through the right side of the channel - crossed and went left of the land bridge - across the water and over the island and straight to the bird

M - Down the mound and over the road - hugged the back of the flyer guns - went wide left and then turned right - went deep right of the guns and got it!
